If I send cryptocurrency to an incorrect or wrong crypto address, what are my options?

Updated this week

Sending cryptocurrency to the wrong address is a common mistake with potentially irreversible consequences. If you've sent crypto to the wrong address, your options depend on several factors. Unfortunately, in most cases, once a transaction is confirmed on the blockchain, it's final and cannot be reversed. However, there are a few scenarios where recovery might be possible.

Possible outcomes & What you can do

Scenario 1: You sent crypto to a valid, but incorrect, address.
In this scenario, your funds are most likely lost. The recipient, is under no obligation to return the funds. Due to the irreversible nature of blockchain transactions, it's crucial to double-check the address before sending any funds.

Scenario 2: You sent crypto to an invalid address.
If you sent the funds to a nonexistent or invalid address, the transaction will likely fail and the funds will be returned to your wallet. You will only lose the transaction fees, if any. In such cases, you need to contact the crypto wallet from which you initiated the transfer.

Scenario 3: You sent a coin to the wrong network.
If you sent a coin to a wallet address on a different network (e.g., sending ETH on the BNB chain), the funds may be recoverable. Maybe not. Contacting the wallet provider's support team is your best action in this case. From our side, if we are able to recover the crypto on your behalf, our service fee is 0.005 BTC.

Important Legal Note:
